Next week begins SAREX 07

Canada s Air Force will take part in the annual National Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX 07) hosted this year by 5 Wing Goose Bay, from October the 2nd to the 6th.
SAREX is an annual exercise where canadan Search and Rescue services compite in an judged events to ensure standarization in techniques and procedures to SAR. 
This year s SAREX is organized by 444 Combat Support Helicopter Squadron, Goose Bay. Participants include: 444 (CS) Sqn, 413 Sqn Greenwood, N.S., 442 Sqn and the Canadian Forces School of Search and Rescue Comox, B.C., 417 Sqn, Cold Lake Alta., 435 Sqn Winnipeg, Man., 1 Canadian Air Division Headquarters and the Canadian Forces School of Survival and Aeromedical Training from Winnipeg, 424 Sqn Trenton, Ont., 439 Esc Bagotville, Que., 103 Sqn Gander, NL., Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Victoria, Trenton and Halifax, NDHQ Directorate Air Rescue and Project Management Office Fixed-wing SAR.
The Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) also has 5 teams that will be competing in the search event.
There are five events that participants compete in: parachute accuracy event, medical event, search event, rescue event, and a maintenance event. As well, there is a non-scored jump competition for all parachutists over 40 and a trial event this year: a fixed-wing aircraft marine event.
