Russia presents the SSJ

On the past September, Russia presented its first new generation aircraft since the colapse of the USSR, the Sukhoi Superjet-100(SSJ).
This plane is dedicated to substitute the Tupolevs Tu-134 and Tu-154 and also the Yakovlev Yak-42.
-The SSJ is more than a plane. Whe have the right to say it is a superjet-,  says Mr. Serguei Ivanov, Vice Prime Minister, during the presentation.
The ceremony took place in an air base of the siberian city of
Komsomolsk-na-Amur, located to about 8,000 kilometers to the east of Moscow.
This aircraft has orders for 73 planes, 61 from Russian airlines and 12 from foreign companies.
This model it is expected to be operative in 2008 and its cost will be approximately $ 25 millon and in this variant it can carry between 75 to 95 passengers.  Also the constructor is studying a greater variant with capacity to transport up to 120 passengers.
